Once, there was despair.
I tasted the pinnacle of this profession once. I was the talk of the town, the man of the hour.
Only problem is, the hour was interrupted.
Repeatedly.
The big problem with time is, it continually moves. If you don't move with it, you're destined to be left behind, and forgotten by it.
The bigger problem is, typically, only those who were not destined to succeed are those destined to be cast aside. In retrospect, perhaps my overwhelming success in this industry was not destined, and my absence is simply by design.
To that, I say this:
Bullshit.
If anything, there was nobody with more destiny in this industry than me. There was never anyone with any more passion. If you dealt with what I dealt with, day after day, and still kept coming to work, you would understand.
But, despite it all, success was at the finish line. And therein lies the two even bigger problems:
1) There was a finish line.
2) Success does not bring satisfaction.
If anything, success suddenly taken away brings, well...
...as I said before, there once was despair.
Success, as many will tell you, is like a drug, an aphrodisiac. Many will tell you this because this statement is more fact than opinion. And when my success was taken away from me, desperation set in.
I reached success again, but came with regret.
Hollow success is like falling on Cupid's arrow. Sure, you're in love...but you're also bleeding from the heart. The feeling is immense, but it will soon be gone, the heart soon beatless.
I guess this brings us to the crux of the issue, which is those who tried to get in the way of my success. Those who cut my time short. Those who deemed their own selfishness too much of a hurdle to clear, cutting me down in the process.
This, my dear friends, is the biggest problem we are now facing.
Please, let me rephrase.
This is the biggest problem you are now facing.
Time does not heal all wounds. In some cases, the passage of time ends in scars. I had thought there the one left on my legacy was irreparable.
I was wrong.
There is only one logical solution to this problem. There may be options, but there is only one true solution. I find it to be a fantastic solution to the problem.
One by one, you will become the solution.
Because, where there was once despair...
...there is now only hate.
